Mazí Mas is a pop up restaurant project. We host dining events in different city locations, and in doing so, provide training and employment opportunities for long term unemployed migrant, refugee and asylum seeker women who have work rights in Australia.
Mazi Mas is a not for profit social enterprise with four main aims:
- to provide women with an independent income and opportunities to find permanent employment;
- to develop women’s existing culinary skills in a professional setting, in order to give them the confidence, support, and practical experience necessary to start their own food businesses or gain employment in others;
- to reduce social isolation and foster community through collective enterprise; and
- to preserve and celebrate women’s recipes and diverse cultural heritages.
Mazí Mas in Australia was inspired by our friends at Mazí Mas London and the wonderful Nikandre Kopcke.
